Free CD mailout to celebrate the Lucid Lynx release

Submitted by paulgear on Wed, 05/05/2010 - 11:51

Lucid Lynx is here!

To celebrate the latest Ubuntu release and to help speed up installs of the new LTS version, Ubuntu-AU have organised a delivery service to any/all users that do not have ready access to easily download the new release. We understand that a lot of people do not have access to large download limits and high-speed Internet due to the nature of Australian broadband, but we don't think this means anyone should go without Ubuntu.

As a result, Ubuntu-AU members have donated CD-Rs, time to burn them, and money to post the CD to anyone in Australia finding themselves in this position. In return all you have to do is install Ubuntu (or use it as a live CD) and ENJOY! (Note that Canonical offer their own official free CD service as well, Shipit. Lead times with Shipit can be up to 10 weeks, so we're offering this service as a quick alternative - our CD-Rs are not intended to replace the official Ubuntu CDs.)

To get your hands on this hot new release the best way is to contact Jared Norris, either via email at jrnorris at gmail dot com, or (if you are on IRC) in either of the Ubuntu-AU IRC channels (Jared's nickname is "head_victim").

This is a limited, free offer, so get in early and start backing up your computer ready for the new release!
